On October 7th, South Korean actor Ahn Hyo Seop, known for his role in the hit romantic-comedy series ‘A Business Proposal’, had a successful press conference for the Manila leg of his 2023 Asia Fan Meet Tour,<The Present Show>.
The said conference was held in collaboration with BENCH/, a Filipino clothing giant for which Ahn Hyo Seop is a global ambassador.
During the event, Ahn Hyo Seop shared that it was his first time visiting the country, and he was really excited as he had just arrived earlier that day. Moreover, when asked about his feelings about finally being in the Philippines, the actor expressed his joy and gratitude for the opportunity given to him.
“Actually, the past few years, I’ve been very busy due to different shoots for different projects. So there are a lot of things that I really wanted to do, really wanted to try. Through this opportunity, I am really happy that I got to visit the Philippines as well,” he said.

Ahn Hyo Seop shared that he really took his time to think about the concept of his fan meet. Aside from this, he also explained how the fan meet’s main title came to be.
"We use the title 'Here and Now' thinking about the idea that the most time that can feel happiness is right here and right now. That is why you have to make the most of your time right here, right now," he said.
Additionally, the actor also admitted that he sometimes had doubts about having fans outside Korea. But through this tour, he was able to feel and see with his own eyes, the support and love of his fans from different countries.
On Being Part of BENCH Global Trendsetters
When asked about his feelings about being a #GLOBALBENCHSETTER, he answered that it was a great offer for him to be a global ambassador of a brand with such a great history. Furthermore, he expressed that the brand matches his preferences in fashion, which allowed him to have a great chemistry with it.
“I usually like to wear comfortable clothes…I think something that I wear should be comfortable for me, [and] for the people who see me, feel the comfort too. That is why I love wearing BENCH,” Ahn Hyo Seop elaborates.
Ahn Hyo Seop as an Actor
Despite his numerous acclamations, Ahn Hyo Seop described himself as an actor who is lacking and has shortcomings. He said that it seemed like he could not be satisfied with what he was able to do as an artist. But one thing he can promise is that he will always acknowledge these shortcomings and use them as motivations to not stay content and to try his best always. After all, for him, being an actor gives you a life of continuous learning.
Challenges While Portraying Kang Tae Moo
Ahn Hyo Seop shared that when he first received the script of ‘A Business Proposal,’ he sat down and read the whole script right away. He added that while reading the script, he got really hooked on the story. However, during the drama’s initial shoots, he struggled with internalizing the arrogance of his character who must always boast about himself.
About His Latest Project ‘A Time Called You’
According to Ahn Hyo Seop, his latest series gave him a headache. Since there were several time skips and his character had to go back and forth with his age, he had a hard time building a clear and specific timeline of his role in his head and would always get confused. That is why, when doing a scene, he sometimes gets back to his room and reviews why his character would act like that.
His Favorite Genre to Work On
As an actor, he cannot specifically think about his favorite genre to work on. He said that when choosing a project, he decides based on whether or not the project pulls him in, regardless of the genre. Yet he also thought romantic comedy shows like ‘A Business Proposal’ were very fun too, and he would like to try doing another romantic comedy project in the future.

His Career Plans
During the event, Ahn Hyo Seop was asked if there was anything new that he would like to try in his career. He shared that, ever since he was young, he has always loved music. Although he does not have a specific plan yet, he hopes to shed his positive thoughts and energy on people through music someday.
The Source of his Joy
It may be a cliché, but, for Ahn Hyo Seop, seeing his fans happy is what makes him happy. Being able to witness their happy and comfortable faces makes him think that he did something good and that he was able to reciprocate the love that they have kept showering him with.
“Love is what keeps me happy,” he emphasized at the end. Together with BENCH/, the K-Drama heartthrob held its first-ever fan meeting in Manila last October 8 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
