I learned about this movie after watching the Crash landing on you. Kim Soo Hyun's cameo? Yes, that's where I knew about this.
It looked funny because I knew Kim Soo Hyun in My Love from Another Star, and his role there was totally different from what I watched in this cameo.

Donggu or Ryu-hwan is the captain of the 5,446 troops that trained in North Korea. Their troop was dispatched in South Korea and each soldier has his own mission. Donggu's mission is to pretend that he is dumb. It sounds funny, right?
I got a good laugh from watching the movie but I was like, "Wait, what? That's it?" The role portrayal was really good, I didn't cringe at all.
I felt like this movie would do a little better if there will be more into the story. The subject matter is quite heavy, in a way.
I used to watch North Korean documentaries before and I know that everything I watched is possible to happen. It is heartbreaking that they don't have an option, there is no free will to choose what they wanted. For instance, in Donggu's case, I felt that he already loved where he was and would rather stay the way things were. But he doesn't have a choice. Once their "party" lets them do a mission, they cannot turn that down.
For the two other comrades, you will see how they still want to protect each other even if that will mean betraying their mother land. It's quite touching to be honest.
It is also amazing to think how they could not know that a tracking chip was implanted on them. That is so crazy to think realistically speaking, but who knows? It might be really happening.

My verdict
I expected so much... and it kind of failed me.
It is good to watch for a good laugh. It is not too heavy.
If I had the option, I would watch it in my free time, but it won't be on top of my list. I am not saying that the movie isn't good. It was, actually.
Maybe it's not my style because there's a lot of action scenes. I felt that the action scene were prolonged towards the end, and it kind of bored me. To be honest, I am not a fan. My husband said that it was a big hit in Korea. But in my opinion, I won't watch it on the big screen.
No hate guys. I love Kim Soo Hyun. He acted dumb so well that I did not cringe, but it still did not satisfy my eyes.
