It was raining in Manila but South Korean rapper-songwriter Bang Yongguk made sure that his fans would not feel the cold as he set the Music Museum on fire during his long-awaited solo concert “The Colors of Bang Yongguk” held last July 14.
Accompanied by his tour’s designated DJ and translator, Yongguk, who is also the former leader of six-membered South Korean hip-hop boy group B.A.P, kicked off the night with a gritty performance of his song G.M.T (Give Me That) from his second solo album 2. This song left a strong statement to his supporters, especially to Filipino BABYz (B.A.P.'s fandom) who have long been anticipating his return because the song ends with the lyrics “I’m Back”
Moreover, the crowd could not contain their joy and excitement as he performed two more songs off his sophomore album, which showcased his excellent flow and powerful stage presence.
When Bang finished his first set, he greeted the fans with his heartwarming smile. He also told them how delighted he was to finally be back in the country, which earned him screams and multiple "mahal kita" from the audience.
The show continued with him performing the seductive and electrifying songs Rain on Me and U.F.O. from his latest E.P., The Colors of Love. The said E.P. is also where the title of his tour came from.
After vibing and dancing, the atmosphere within the venue becomes a little bit sentimental as Bang performs "Hikikomori" and "I Remember," which are tracks that express heartfelt emotions.
Filo BABYz went from feeling blue to feeling green and energized as the artist sang the crowd's favorite, "Green." Bang even borrowed a Matoki lightstick, the official lightstick of B.A.P., from one of the fans to introduce the song, which excited the fans even more.
A technical problem occurred during the performance of his sexy song "Ya," but that did not stop everyone, including Bang, from raising their hands and waving their bodies to the beat.
Despite having only a few songs left on the setlist, the energy inside the Music Museum remained high, with fans singing and jumping along to Bang's hits "Off" and "Yamazaki."
With his song “Orange Drive,” Bang closed the night by reminding fans to love themselves as much as they love him. He also did an encore of his songs "Xie Xie" and "See You Later."
The concert concluded with a group photo and a fan project in which Filo BABYz gave Bang a cloth banner containing their personal messages for him.
Indeed, the rain was pouring hard in Manila last July 14. However, for Filipino BABYz, no amount of rain could stop the colors of Bang Yongguk's love from painting a rainbow in their skies.
