2022 is the year we see everything grasping back into normal. While the pandemic scare slowly depletes, the entertainment industry has seen a golden revival in its alley making memorable concerts and fan meets happen.

As the new year unfolds, let’s look back at the Korean stars and groups who made their way to the Philippines and marked the stage worthwhile in 2022.

 

NCT Dream, SHINee’s Key, Wei, and Alice
“Begin Again: K-pop Edition” staged its first international concert in the Philippines since the pandemic in 2020. Fans have witnessed Korean stars NCT Dream, SHINee’s Key, Wei, and Alice grace the event held on May 29 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Kim Soo-hyun
Known for his hit dramas “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” and “My Love from the Star,” the Korean actor held his “One Extraordinary Day with Kim Soo-hyun” fan meeting on June 10 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. It is the first Korean fan meet event that took the stage in Manila this year. The artist will be coming to the country again for another fan meet in January.

Hwang In-youp 
K-pop performer Hwang In-youp held his BYS Fun Meet and graced Filipino fans at the New Frontier Theater organized by the makeup brand company on June 19. Hwang is known for his hit dramas “True Beauty,” “Why Her” and “The Sound of Magic.”

Red Velvet
The Korean girl group sensation performed at the “BE YOU: The World Will Adjust” event held at the Mall of Asia Arena on July 22.

Yerin
K-pop artist Yerin held her first “Yerin ‘Aria’ Fansign in Manila” of the year at the Gateway Mall’s Cineplex 5 on July 22.

GOT7
GOT7 member Youngjae had his “Sugar in Manila” mini-concert and a fan signing event at the New Frontier Theater on July 23.
K-pop boy band GOT7 member BamBam held separate fan signing events in Cebu and Manila, respectively on July 26 and 28. In Manila, the artist took place at Ayala Malls Manila Bay.
GOT7’s BamBam and Jackson Wang, and idol group Treasure starred in the “2022 K-pop Masterz in Manila” show with Sandara Park as special guest at the Mall of Asia Arena on July 29.
Another GOT7 member Yugyeom held his “Yugyeom: Live in Manila” event on Aug. 19 at the New Frontier Theater.
K-pop artist Jay B of group GOT7 flew in Manila for his “Tape: Press Pause” world tour with Filipino-Australian singer James Reid as his special guest at the New Frontier Theater on Oct. 1.

B.I.
On Aug. 27, Korean rapper B.I held his first fan meeting “B.I Offline In Manila” at the New Frontier Theater.

Cha Eun-woo
K-pop star and actor Cha Eun-woo held his “Starry Caravan in Manila” fan meeting held at the Araneta Coliseum on August 6. The actor also visited Cebu.  
NCT 127
K-pop star group NCT 127 performed in their first ever solo concert in the Philippines, “NCT 127 2nd Tour Neo City-Manila: The Link,” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Sept. 4.

Seventeen
Korean boy band Seventeen wowed the fans in their “Be The Sun” concert in Manila and on Oct. 8 to 9 at the Mall of Asia Arena. The group returned to the country this time in Bulacan for their third “Be The Sun” concert on Dec. 17 at the Philippine Arena.

Kang Daniel
On Oct. 22, K-pop star Kang Daniel graced the stage at his first solo concert, ‘First Parade’ in Manila” as part of the Asian leg held at the New Frontier Theater.

 

TXT
K-pop idol group Tomorrow X Together (TXT) held the finale of the “Act: Lovesick” in a two-day event in Manila at the Mall of Asia Arena on Oct. 27 and 28.

Ji Chang Wook 
Korean star Ji Chang-wook held his “Reach You” fan meeting in Manila on Nov. 6 at the Mall of Asia Arena. The actor has notable lead roles in television series such as Warrior Baek Dong-soo, Empress Ki, Healer, and The K2.


Jung Ho-yeon

“Squid Game” star and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award winning best actress Jung Ho-yeon held her “Jung Ho-yeon Fun Meet in Manila,” on Nov. 11 at the New Frontier Theater. The event was organized by  IAM Worldwide.


MCND

On Nov. 19, boy band MCND held their 1st Asia Tour in Manila at SM City North EDSA Skydome.


Momoland, Everglow and AKMU

K-pop groups Momoland, Everglow and AKMU collaborated for the “Ripples for Hope” concert held on Nov. 26 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena organized by the Ripple Society.


ENHYPEN

K-pop rising group ENHYPEN graced their filipino fans months ahead of their Manifesto concert in their ENHYPEN Fun Meet in Manila to mark BYS’ 10th anniversary at the Araneta Coliseum.


STAYC

K-pop girl group STAYC held their 1st Fan Meeting in Manila on Dec. 3 at EVM Convention Center FYM Hall, Central Avenue Quezon City.
