Samgyupsal, which is derived from three words—sam, which in hangul means "three"; gyeop/gyup, which means "layer"; and sal, which means "meat"—has been setting the trend since it first appeared in Korean dramas. It rose to fame when this fantastic combination of meat parts paired with tasty Korean side dishes appeared in several popular KDrama series such as "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo", "Fight For My Way", and "Reply 1988".
