Kristel is well-known among her fans, particularly those who are also enthusiasts of Hallyu, for her love and interest in South Korea’s language, food, fashion, music, shows, and a lot more. Hence, when she shared on her Instagram account a month ago that she had arrived safely at Incheon International Airport, everyone was happy and cheered for her.
According to her recent vlogs, MOVING IN KOREA (+ grocery shopping) and LIVING ALONE DIARIES: The Adjustments, Kristel will be staying and plans to study in South Korea. She also shared things she was doing for the first time, as this was her first time living alone. Her vlogs show her settling in, buying groceries, cooking her own food, doing housework, traveling alone, and a lot more.
For anyone who also dreams of moving to South Korea, it is surely fascinating to see Kristel’s journey of doing so. While we wait for her next vlogs, let us go back to the many instances which proved how Kristel is living the dream of every Hallyu fan!
Speaking and conversing in Hangeul
We can all agree that we've wished at least once to simply watch all of these K-Dramas without having to read the subtitles in order to enjoy them. And, like us, Kristel says that "K-Drama is life," so she pushed herself to learn the Korean language–Hangeul, and she succeeded! Today, we can see in Kristel's vlogs how she manages to not only speak but also converse in Hangeul.
At first, Kristel couldn't believe it when a friend told her she could learn to read and write in Korean in one day, but when she tried it, she realized it was really possible. Kristel even made a vlog about her Hangeul learning experience and some tips for those who want to try it themselves.
If you've already begun learning the language and want to know how to improve your Hangeul learning, Kristel prepared a Part 2 video sharing her learning experience that may be helpful to you.
Visiting and Traveling in South Korea
Who hasn't wanted to visit South Korea? Almost four years ago, Kristel shared on her YouTube channel her first ever South Korea trip, during which she tried various Korean food, wore traditional Korean clothing, and even conversed with locals using Hangeul. In another vlog, she checked another item off a K-Drama fan's bucket list by showing her journey to various K-Drama filming locations.
Attending a Blackpink Concert
Blackpink is having their world tour in 2023 and they are finally coming back to the Philippines! Meanwhile, Kristel was one of the lucky ones who were able to attend Blackpink’s last concert in Manila before the pandemic happened. What was it like to attend a K-Pop concert and one of the most popular girl groups at that? Check out Kristel’s experience below!Endorsing and modeling for Korean skincare and makeup products
Are you a fan of Korean skincare and makeup routines? If so, you may be familiar with Face Republic, a Korean beauty brand made in the Philippines. Kristel was able to endorse and model for the company's products, which we can see her using on her vlogs from time to time.
Directing her own Korean web drama
When the pandemic halted or limited television and film productions, the industry adjusted and adapted to a new normal production set-up. Kristel, a huge fan of Korean dramas, was able to produce and direct her own Korean web drama set in the Philippines and South Korea during the pandemic. Love From Home highlights the cultures of two countries, particularly through its main characters, a Filipina tutor and a Korean student. The web series is available on One Click TV’s YouTube channel.
Composing and singing her original Korean song
Kristel is also well-known for her song covers, which included Korean songs. She took her passion to the next level by composing and singing an original Korean song titled Smile Again, which served as the official soundtrack for Love From Home.
Meeting and chatting with Seo In Guk
Kristel was able to fulfill another dream of hers as a fangirl just this year. She had her chance to interview the Korean singer and actor Seo In Guk. Kristel has claimed to be a long-time fan of In Guk, and you can see for yourself by watching the vlog below!
Without a doubt, we wanted to experience the emotions that Kristel felt during these events. And, if you want to see more of Kristel's South Korean and Hallyu-related adventures, check out her YouTube channel, KrisTells Vlogs!
