While watching A Love So Beautiful, it hadn’t crossed my mind to compare this Korean adaptation to the original Chinese drama since these two dramas had a different charm to catch the attention of young people. But for me, this Korean adaptation was remarkable for it had opened my eyes to something more that maybe I wasn't able to see when I watched the original (I was clouded with the romantic aspect of that drama and it had enabled me to see the message). It reminds me more than just young love. I set aside the romantic excitement and finally able to see what this drama is trying to convey.

This might be the cutest way to such realization and our young ones should be aware of this. It’s deep and had I known it before, I must be somehow a wiser person than I was today. As a reminder to our youth, these are the seven reasons why you should watch this drama:

1. The greatest part of the confession.

(Screenshot)

Most of us are afraid to confess our affection towards someone. Especially, if that someone is different compared to us: Smart, achiever, and famous. But Shin Sol-i is courageous. She had the guts to say those three words that are mostly left floating in the air. The relief of finally speaking what's inside your heart is immeasurable but at the same time, terrified of how he will respond. The lesson here is that confessing isn't just about revealing your feelings. Instead, confessing is revealing the other person's feelings towards you. He/she may like you back, may reject you, or may ignore you. If the response is negative, don't let that break your heart. You can cry, but just don't break down. You confess because you're in love and remember that the greatest part of confession is acceptance. And just because he/she doesn't like you back doesn't mean you have to fall out of love immediately. Learn from Shin Seol-i, sometimes, you have to figure things out on your own without wimping out.

2. Waiting is lovely and amazing.

(Screenshot)

In the drama, Shin Seol-i had already mastered the art of waiting. Someone who wakes up early in the morning just to make sure she will catch you and go along with you deserves appreciation. But this is not just about Shin Seol-i waiting for Cha Heon on the bike parking, this is about her patience. Loving someone like Cha Heon is confusing. He is not expressive. You can't tell if he's into you or he's not because for a minute he's hot, but in a bit of a second, he's cold, again! It's easy for a girl to not pursue love if she was always baffled, but since Shin Seol-i is courageous, she found no reason to let go. And the loveliest and most amazing thing to happen while waiting is witnessing how that person develops his feelings towards you. It is as if you have planted a seed in him and as time cultured the seed, it grows and you couldn't stop smiling once it finally bears its first fruit. That is why some people are so patient about love. A reward of being loved back is a blessing that would erase those years you thought were in vain.

3. A love unrealized is better when realized.

They said that the foundation of love is friendship. Yes, I agree. And for some people, friendship is the start of something exciting. Something like a highway to romance. At a young age, it is hard to distinguish love from infatuation. Like how hard it is to notice that a friend wants to be more. The story of Kang Ha-Yeong and Jeong Jin-Hwan is so endearing. Being comfortable with each other sometimes hinders our consciousness to realize that a friend started to care. We failed to see that their gestures are starting to become soft and special because we are already used to their movements. And to point out one thing, there is no wrong in loving a friend. I say it is so right because that person you are loving is not a stranger to you. You know her more than anyone and that is an advantage to a rival. And just like Jin-Hwa, a courageous man will never be afraid to confess regardless of the possibility that he might fail. Not just in love but in their friendship. But think of the possibilities. Possibilities like she might be feeling the same way. Because it takes a risk-taker to make someone realize what they still haven't realized. And look where that confession had led them to. From being friends to lovers. A proof that high school sweethearts do survive.

4. Young love is not misleading.

My mother always told me not to be in a relationship when I entered high school. She was afraid that it might badly influence and mislead my life. But she never told me not to fall in love. ALSB had me realize that I have led a beautiful life indeed. I was in love. I was inspired. I was motivated. Loving someone in high school made my life a lot lighter. Young people, this drama will enlighten you that it is ok to fall in love at a very young age. It will help you find your purpose and made you wish for a favorable future. It is always a misconception that falling in love so early will mislead you when in fact there is no definite age to fall in love. It comes naturally. And when it comes, feel it. You don't have to be in a relationship to feel it. The giggles and excitement you feel whenever he/she is around are already love. When he's slowly becoming one of the reasons why you wake up, then that is love. And it is always good to remember having your first love in high school. A love felt during your innocence is a kind of love that will last a lifetime.

5. Building a base called friendship.

They say that high school friends are the hardest to forget. Maybe because they were with us when we were just starting to have dreams. Most high schoolers are still not certain of what they wanted to become in the future. Especially when they have no one to consult with. That is why it is always better to have your circle of friends. They will help you realize your goals and support your journey. Aside from your family, they are the ones who helped you made your first, second, and third steps until you realize you are already running towards that certain goal. You may succeed or you may fail, but there is only one thing for sure that will remain. Friends! It's not easy to stumble down when your base has already rooted deeply. When your friends are amazing, you are slowly becoming one, too. They are the living achievements you have invested your precious youth with. So, invest in friendship. It is always good to build bridges than burning ones.

6. Unrequited love is valid.

(Screenshot)

When a friend confessed his feelings but the other doesn't feel the same way around, a broken friendship is often the conclusion because staying will only hurt the other. Things will never be the same and that is what most of us are afraid of. So to maintain the friendship, some settled in unrequited love. In every K-drama, the second lead has always captured our sympathy. And Woo Dae-Seong is an addition to our long list of the second male lead syndrome. It is obvious to Dae-Seong that Seol-i is madly in love with Cha Heon, but that never caused him to stop loving the girl. While some people despise unrequited love, I find this feeling even stronger. How brave of you to constantly love a girl while she is madly in love with someone? You respect her feelings that is why you chose not to confess. And that is also one reason why unrequited love is valid. As a teenager, don't be abashed for having an unrequited love. Loving without expectation is unconditional love. Dea-Seong proves that unrequited love will bring out the best in you. You want to be the best for her. Make her proud of you. Make her happy. You reached your dreams because that unrequited love has inspired you and led you to the betterment and to advance further.

7. Appreciate the advantages of being young.

(Screenshot)

For me, being young is the most beautiful stage in one's life. During this period, our lives were full of beautiful things and our innocence about life made us appreciate even the smallest details of our being. It is where life prepares us to be someone in the future. So while you are young, take all the risks that might be your ticket to your future. Just like Seol-i, run for a position in your classroom or in an organization where you belong or join a marathon even though you are not athletic. Just like Cha Heon, pursue your passion for medicine. Just like Jin-Hwan, try to audition or join a singing contest. And just like Ha Yeong, do your best to improve academically. You may find this as common for now since doing this seems so difficult. But when you reach adulthood and you never tried a single effort to exercise your freedom from great responsibilities during your teenage years, then, you don't have meaningful memories to ponder upon and that will make your life boring. To sum it up, enjoy your life as a teenager, as the young ones. That is your advantage! As for me, my life as an adult is beautiful because I have memories to cherish. I had countless dreams and I am happy that I have already achieved some of those.

Korean dramas were made not just to entertain us. It brought a lot of lessons and realization about life. For those who are still undecided to watch this drama, I hope that you will give this drama a chance. It may not be the type that deals with complexity since it is a high school drama but it is a heart-lighted one. Plus, I love the intro song, "Lovable by SINB-GFRIEND". It reminds me of my first love. You should listen to that, too.
