You read it right! South Korea is accepting 170 undergraduate and 700 graduate scholars in various courses under an all-expense paid scholarship.
How do you qualify? An applicant must be:
Scholars get the following benefits: airfare, living allowance, resettlement allowance, medical insurance, Korean language course, and a one-time completion grant, among others.
According to the government-owned website Study in Korea, the purpose of the scholarship program is “To provide international students with opportunities to conduct advanced studies in undergraduate and graduate programs at higher educational institutions in The Republic of Korea in order to promote international exchanges in education and mutual friendship between countries.”

- non-Korean. Both parents must also be citizens of another country
- mentally and physically healthy
- 25 years or younger, if applying for an undergraduate course
- 40 years or younger, if applying for a graduate degree
- finished or is expected to finish high school before arriving in Korea (for undergraduate applicants)
- having a grade point average of 80% or above from the last school attended
- holding a Bachelor’s or a Master's degree before arriving in Korea (for graduate studies)
- first-time students in Korea (Former or current scholars of Global Korea Scholarship with an overall grade of 90% or above can reapply once through the embassy or university track.)
What must you do?
Interested applicants should apply and submit all the requirements to the Korean Embassy in their country of residence or to the university they wish to apply to.
