Q. Can I register for Korean language classes on a Tourist (C-3) visa?A. No, you cannot register for Korean language classes. The classes held at Seoul Global Center are only open to foreign residents who live in Korea. Short-term visa holders (B-1, B-2,C-3,C-4) are unable to register for the 8-week TOPIK preparation course or 12-week regular Korean language class programs due to the short visa duration.
Q. I am currently in the midst of applying/extending my visa. Can I register for Korean language classes?A. Yes, you can register for Korean language classes if you bring the receipt indicating that you have applied or extended your visa.
Q. I am busy on the day of registration, can my husband register on my behalf?A. No, you are required to register in person as the written and speaking tests will be conducted on the same day.
Q. Is it possible to register in advance or by phone?A. No, registration is only done on the specified day on a first-come-first-served basis. As the written and speaking tests will be conducted on the day of registration, you will have to be present in person to register.
Q. Does registration automatically guarantee a place in Korean language class?A. No. Enrolment will be determined based on the order of numbered tickets distributed 45 minutes before the start of registration. Each class can admit up to 17 people and 5 people on the waiting list. The list of successful applicants will be posted on the Seoul Global Center website within 10 days after the registration day.
Q. I was previously enrolled in Korean language classes at the Seoul Global Center. Can I register without taking the placement test?A. No, you are required to take the placement test again to ensure that your placement is accurate. Only students who attended the 2nd term do not have to take the placement test.
Q. I was previously enrolled at a university language institute. Can I register without taking the placement test?A. No, you are required to take the placement test to ensure that your placement is accurate.
Q. Would taking Korean language classes at the Seoul Global Center be of any help in applying for or extending my visa?A. No, the Korean language classes at Seoul Global Center are not related to visa issuance or extension.
Q. Can I join both regular Korean language class and TOPIK preparation course?A. No, students are only allowed to attend one class per term.
Q. Do I have to attend the TOPIK preparation course twice a week?A. Yes, you are required to attend the course twice a week (Mondays & Wednesdays / Tuesdays & Thursdays / Saturdays & Sundays).
Q. Do I have to apply for the TOPIK exam in order to register for the TOPIK preparation course?A. Yes. For the upcoming 3rd term, students who wish to register for the TOPIK preparation course are required to apply for the 61st TOPIK exam which will be held on 18 November. Applicants who do not apply for the TOPIK exam will have their registration for the TOPIK preparation class cancelled.
Q. Who can be waived from the placement test for the TOPIK preparation course?A. Applicants who produce a valid TOPIK transcript (within 2 years) will be waived from the placement test.
