Pinoy Iskolars sa Korea, Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit private organization to promote SYNERGY among Filipino students in different educational institutions in South Korea.
PIKO is dedicated to serving the Filipino student population (the Pinoy Iskolars) in South Korea. Our programs are designed not only for each Pinoy Iskolar’s academic and personal development, but also to instill strong Filipino values such as love for the human community (pagiging makatao), concern for the environment (pagiging makakalikasan), love for motherland (pagiging makabansa), and love for God (pagiging maka-Diyos).
PIKO commits itself to:
• Gathering and orienting new Filipino scholars in Korea regarding student life in the country;
• Sharing existing members’ expertise with current and potential Filipino scholars in Korea;
• Conducting regular activities to promote fellowship between members;
• Supporting various Filipino cultural events;
• Strengthening the ties between the members and the Philippine Embassy and other Filipino organizations;
• Promoting Filipino culture to the international community;
• Maintaining ties between and among Filipino scholars in Korea and in the Philippines;
• Assisting Filipino students settle into their new life in Korea through sharing personal experiences and helpful “survival” tips during the various stages of their stay;
• Encouraging social and intellectual exchange, fellowship, and community between and among Filipino students in Korea; and
• Instilling a firm sense of nationalism and service to the country among Filipino students in Korea.
