Pinoy Iskolars sa Korea, Inc. held its first Tri-Colloquia last Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the Asean-Korea Center. The academic meeting was divided into three sessions: Social Sciences Colloquium, Natural Sciences Colloquium, and Engineering Colloquium.
PIKO President, Darine Froy Mabunga, stressed the necessity of sharing expertise and exchanging knowledge in his opening remarks. After all, PIKO is an organization of Filipino scholars.
Dr. Katherine Villalobos-Moron, who works currently as a mobile service consultant at Gownet in Seoul Global Center, talked about tips on pursuing graduate studies and building career in the Social Sciences field. She detailed the different ways one can employ in finding opportunities for advanced education.
In the Natural Science Colloquium, Prof Lito Amit emphasized the need to break prejudices in his talk entitled "Filipino Talents in the Korean Higher Education Institutions (HEIs): The Case of a Helicase." Prof. Amit currently serves Namseoul University as an associate professor.
The day concluded with the Engineering Colloquium. Four graduate students shared their expertise in their chosen field. They are Dr. Joseph Albert Mendoza, Prof. Christabel Jane Rubio, Engr. Leah Jessica Sebastian, and Engr. Julius Marvin Flores. Dr. Lawrence Limjuco moderated the session.
This Tri-Colloquia will have its culmination program on December 10, 2017. PIKO also invites everybody to its Christmas Party on the same day.
